Melina Velba Hands On

Internet Explorer 9 Final

It's been two days since the release of the final version of Internet Explorer 9, and in that time Microsoft says it has managed to be downloaded over 2 million of times below that achieved a record 8 million Firefox 3 downloads. In these early days have appeared reviews of the new browser and performance testing with other browsers that do not stand out as good as expected. Most talk about the improvements to the recpecto Beta, the Release Candidate , and especially for Internet Explorer 8. The truth is that the browser has evolved very positively, but still fails at points, at least I think are important.

True IE9 includes support for HTML5, but is not even half the support that Google Chrome 10 offers, not to mention that still does not support some functions CSS3, in particular, the rounded corners. As you can see in the picture above, the corners are square, while other browsers (Firefox 3 / 4 , Chrome 8 / 9 / 10 and Opera 11), they are compatible and do not give any problems. Another point to consider is the hardware acceleration, meaning that the GPU is responsible for processing the graphics of the web. Internet Explorer has full acceleration is a lie, because we only used to charge certain types of content, but not the entire page as states do.

One little point in having final IE9 is redesigning its interface. Most major browsers have an interface as simple as possible and toolbars which occupy less space on the screen. Microsoft has wanted to join the fashion, and do not have occurred otherwise to copy the design of Chrome. This demonstrates how little originality on the part of developers, and if we stop to think about the options for customizing the interface with other browsers, with Firefox as its greatest exponent, we realize how little effort and interest from developers to create an original browser and customizable to suit the tastes of each user.

In summary, we could say that the only good thing is that it IE9 is better than Internet Explorer 8, but remain far behind the rest. The increase in JavaScript performance has improved considerably, and the security aspect as well. He had the idea that IE9 would revolutionize the industry as Microsoft promised, but I've noticed that follow the same path. All they have done is create a browser (presumably written from scratch) that fits, more or less, to the needs of the times. Any improvement, however little it may be, is welcome, so we recommend upgrading to IE9 if you have a previous version installed. Unfortunately Windows XP users have no consistency with this browser, but may choose other much better.
